Web Content & Custom Apps Extension for IBM Connections Today I am pleased to announce that IBM has acquired XCC- Web Content & Custom Apps Extension for IBM Connections from TIMETOACT. XCC is a digital workspace hub designed to enhance and complement the user experience of IBM Connections. The acquisition signals IBM’s intention to continue to lead the collaboration market with the IBM Connections portfolio. The acquired technology will be branded IBM Connections Engagement Center and available from IBM starting sometime in Q3. @Inhi Suh publicly announced the acquisition during her keynote at the DNUG conference in Berlin this morning. The press release is available on ibm.com: https://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/52479.wss The typical knowledge worker’s ability to get work done is threatened by the digital landscape, which is inundated with noise, alerts, and data. There is an ever-increasing need for a platform that is built to improve employee engagement, communication, and collaboration. IBM Connections is already the market leader in enterprise collaboration; adding the Engagement Center brings sharper focus to the flow of internal knowledge. XCC adds a digital workspace hub, or personalized homepage, to IBM Connections. The homepage is tailored to each individual end user’s role and preferences, providing employees with easy access to the information needed to excel in their jobs. It highlights corporate news, relevant content, links to important resources, files, and events that might pertain to the employee’s work. Having immediate access to content that helps users get work done is enough to cause a significant boost in employee engagement. However, XCC further enhances an employee’s work experience by helping to ensure that the right content is written and discovered by the right people. It also provides a single content repository, further simplifying content creation, management, and discovery. The acquisition of XCC from TIMETOACT builds on the momentum for IBM Connections established earlier this year, with the delivery of Connections 6.0 and the announcement of the next generation architecture, codenamed “Pink.” With these innovations, IBM Connections will now offer users an integrated experience where top-down communications blend seamlessly with peer-to-peer collaboration. This makes internal communications accessible and collaborative, part of the everyday work flow. Having increased visibility to company news and values is another path towards improving employee engagement initiatives. End users in IBM Connections can now rely on a single destination to complete tasks and access company communications. IBM Connections Engagement Center will keep employees current and active, while drawing their attention to critical news, events, and resources. From the same place, they will work productively in the applications they use every day. And finally, they will be able to create and manage content in a simple way. All of these capabilities added to the IBM Connections portfolio will further evolve IBM’s market-leading platform that boosts engagement, communication, and collaboration.
